SOE in Crète

While staying in Crete, I discovered a beach with a plaque on a rock where I noted that historical events took place on this same beach during the Third World War, as well as throughout Crete.
Some villages were destroyed by the SS, women were burned, their lives were cut down, husbands were shot, animals were slaughtered, and Orthodox churches were razed.
A veritable holocaust took place before Oradour-sur-Glane.
The shepherds became invaluable aid to the British SOE against the Germans.
The war criminal Heinrich Kreipe was kidnapped by the British SOE with the help of the Cretan Resistance in April 1944 on Rokadino Beach, also thanks to Stanley Moss, who managed to send Heinrich Kreipe to Egypt from this beach.
